Do you know that you are not going to stay in this world forever? Of course you do, but let that sink in for a moment. You and I are merely passing through this earth, which is why we must use our days wisely—to fulfill God’s will and positively impact those around us. Only God knows the exact time, days, and years we have left.
Therefore, since Christ suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind, for he who has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin, that he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh for the lusts of men, but for the will of God.
This scripture calls every believer to follow the example of Jesus who endured suffering for us yet remained sinless. He did not use His time on earth to indulge in worldly desires but dedicated Himself to fulfilling God’s purpose. He set the ultimate example for us —an example of holiness and as His followers, we must strive to live as He did, always turning away from sin and aligning our lives with God’s will. This means rejecting the temptations of the flesh—sinful attitudes and behaviors—that distance us from Him.
Many today believe that living a holy life is unattainable. Yet 1 Peter 4:1-2 affirms that if Jesus could resist temptation and devote His time to God, so can we. Those who truly seek God and serve Him in Spirit and in truth can make holiness their way of life. Choose to live the remainder of your days in God and holiness. There’s so much He has given us to succeed against temptations, struggles and ensure ultimate victory in our lives through Christ Jesus. Forgiveness is a great one. No matter what you’ve done, the grace of God will always be present to forgive and empower to live a life in righteousness. So choose God today and receive the strength to reject sin and walk in righteousness in Jesus’ name.
May your heart be steadfast in pursuing God’s will, and may you experience the peace and fulfillment that comes from a life dedicated to Him. In Jesus' name, Amen.
