As believers in Christ, there will be times we go through situations so harrowing and difficult that we may begin to think that God has forgotten. But in truth, He hasn’t and he is ever mindful of us. He knows what we are going through and He’s ever ready to show us mercy and bail us out of our negative conditions.
A Promise of Restoration
He will yet fill your mouth with laughter and your lips with shouts of joy.
The book of Job is a story about a human, just like you and me, who endured immense suffering yet remained faithful to God. These words from Job 8:21 were spoken by Bildad, one of Job's friends and it is a promise of restoration, comfort and joy after difficult times. It affirms that present sufferings are not forever and hope and happiness will surely return.
Hardship Is Not Forever
You may be like Job and your situation has been harrowing for so long. But know this: this suffering you're in? It's not permanent. Your hope is not in vain and happiness will return. All you need to do is to trust in the Lord and believe Him for divine intervention. He will show up for you and fill your mouth with laughter. Your harrowing experience will not continue forever. Your difficult situation is a PASSING PHASE, not a PARKING PLACE. Troubled days are not forever.
Fix Your Eyes on Jesus
Be sure that in the struggle you don’t turn your back on God and say negative things about Him. Instead, raise an altar of praise and thanksgiving and ask Him for the grace to endure. The season of hardship won't last because God will come through for you and he won’t be long.
Also, this is not the time to blame those who have hurt you in the past. It is not the time to blame or speak derogatory words against people who have contributed to your hardship. Leave them to God for Him to judge. Stop looking to people for rescue. Look to Jesus, the Author and Finisher of your faith. He will make you radiant. He will turn your tests into testimonies, your mess to a message, your trials to triumphs. He will take you from pit to palace and from the guttermost to the uppermost. Your mouth will be filled with shouts of joy.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Glory to God!
