We humans are mortal beings. Like flowers, we bud and bloom but eventually fade and wither. Over our lifetimes, we experience childhood, adolescence, adulthood and eventually old age.
Mortals, born of woman, are of few days and full of trouble. They spring up like flowers and wither away; like fleeting shadows, they do not endure.
This scripture vividly illustrates the temporal parallel between humans and flowers. It underscores both our beauty and fleetingness. Flowers emerge, bloom gracefully, captivating those who behold them; yet they inevitably fade and die. Every human alive needs to reflect deeply on this truth: we will not be in this present world forever. We are all temporary residents of this world and one day, each of us will depart the world and begin our journey to eternity. The Bible makes it clear that the wages of sin is death and that there is only one of two places a person can spend their eternity: heaven or hell.
He came to save you and me
Over two thousand years ago, Jesus entered this sinful world, and though He was blameless, He was persecuted and crucified, dying for the sins of humanity. Through this sacrifice, he became the author of eternal salvation and redemption. During his ministry on earth, he said that if anyone believes in Him and accepts Him as Lord and Saviour, that person will be spared from the "second death" which is eternal separation from God.
The entirety of our achievements, wealth and possessions are a total waste if we don’t acknowledge Jesus Christ as Lord. If you repent and accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour, I can assure you that He will save you and you will not face eternal destruction. If you are willing to surrender your life to him, say this prayer:
Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your mercy. I repent of all my sins (take a moment to mention them to Him). I believe that You died for me and rose again. I receive You now as my personal Lord and Saviour. Help me to follow You all the days of my life. Amen.
Next Steps: Now that you are born again
Congratulations, dear Christian! Welcome to the body of Christ. Now that you're saved, find a Bible-believing church where you can grow in faith and fellowship. Read the Bible faithfully, and speak with God daily in prayer. It is well with you in Jesus’ name.
