Every believer in Christ Jesus must walk in righteousness in this sin-infested world. To Walking In Righteousness is to abide in God and to abstain from sin. When you walk in sin, you cannot please God and your life will be full of mysteries and woes.
Beloved, I beg you as Sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lust which war against the soul
This scripture sounds a note of warning to us sojourners and pilgrims in this present world to distance ourselves from the fleshly lusts (lusts of the flesh) that are constantly militating against us. As believers in Christ, we are sojourners in this world. A sojourner is a temporary resident in a place. We will not stay in this world forever, so we should not waste our lives by toying with sin. Our journey in this world will end one day, and we will all indeed appear before the judgment seat of Christ (Bema). Each of us will receive the judgment we deserve for the good or evil we chose to do while in our earthly body. Just as a doctor, a nurse, or a medical practitioner will protect themselves from being infected with contagious diseases, every believer in Christ needs to protect themselves so that they will not catch the infection of sin. Any Christian who lives a careless lifestyle will be caught in the web of sin. Resistance against sin is a battle that every believer in Christ must fight daily. The spirit of sin, with its enticing appearance, knocks on the door of our hearts every possible moment. However, the choice to either open the door or leave it closed is ours to make. Opening the door of our hearts to sins will bring great consequences that can destroy us. The Bible says in Hebrews:
You have not yet resisted to bloodshed, striving against sin.
This scripture points out a likely fact - that in our struggle against sin, we have not yet resisted to the point of shedding our blood. Many Christians in the Bible days resisted sin to the point of death or maim. They lived for God and nothing else (Heb.11:35-36). We modern-day believers in Christ must live in holiness, knowing fully well that we have not yet been confronted with the fierce persecution some have experienced. In this Christian journey, may the Lord grant you to stand firm, resist sin, and always Walking In Righteousness.
Are You Born Again?
If you have not given your life to Jesus, you can seize this opportunity and give your life to Him. All you need do is be sincere and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour. Then, he will turn your life aorund for good and make you a new person.
Awesome! That's great!
Say This Prayer With Sincerity:
Lord Jesus I come to you today and know that I'm a sinner.
I repent of my sins and I confess my sins to you today (mention them).
Jesus, I accept you as my personal Lord and savior.
I promise to serve you all my days.
Beloved, Welcome to the Body of Christ!
Congrats! Now, you are part of God's family and you have the holy spirit living in you. What you need to do now is to search for a bible-believing church around you and begin to fellowship there. Also, you need to get a Bible, and read it as well as pray everyday. You are mightly loved!
