In the last post, we discussed the meaning of a critical spirit. One of the major thing the devil does is to accuse. He is the accuser of the people of God and our brethren. See what the book of Revelation says:
And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven “Now have come salvation and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ, for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night
The above scripture makes it known that Satan is the accuser of God’s people and he delights in accusing them day after day and night after night. It is rather unfortunate today that many Christians have taken this ministry from Satan by assassinating the character of their other Christians on social media. This is bad! Unbelievers are known and expected for character assassination. However, there is no reason why Christians should be accusing other Christians. We need to stop this bad habit and pray for one another like never before.
Satan rejoices when we accuse one another. Instead of accuse, we need to choose love for one another and pray for those who are spiritually weak among us. In the army, when a soldier is wounded in battle, others would rally round him, draw him back into camp and help nurse his wound so he does not die. In the Christendom, when a general or soldier of Christ is wounded through any form of sin or mistake, instead of praying for the person, we prefer to accuse, many times persisting in it until that person becomes more rebellious and dies in their sin. We need to change our weys. These are other names of the critical spirit.
- Judgemental Spirit
- Condemnation Spirit
- Discouragement Spirit
- Character Assination Spirit
- Abusive Spirit
- Fault finding Spirit
- Accusation Spirit
Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord comes, who will both bring to light the hidden things of darkness and reveal the counsels of the hearts. Then each one’s praise will come from God.
As shocking as this revelation can be to us, many times, we ourselves can be very guilty of these things. How do we measure this and test ourselves to ensure we are not critical of other people around us?
How to Know if you have a Critical Spirit
- You constantly complain about the negative behaviour of others in order to condemn them.
- You never identify good things in others.
- You don't show love to others.
- You find it so difficult to pray for those who are not doing right.
- You have a bad mindset that the person you are accusing cannot change.
- You fail to realize that you are not perfect.
- You are proud.
- You are envious of others.
Friend, I want you to do a sincere evaluation. Did you answer yes to one or more of those questions? If yes, then you are very likely to have a critical spirit. What you need to do now if to admit your were wrong, ask God for His forgiveness and change your ways. Reflect carefully on any critical thing you have said or done to someone in recent or past times. Admit your wrong and sincerely determine to never live that way anymore. It is well with you. From today, Begin to lift people up and never be judgmental again. Hallelujah!
If you are reading this post and you haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. You can decide for Jesus right now, If you are ready, Pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner Jesus I repent of all my sins Jesus I confess all my sins to you ( mention them) Jesus I accept you right now as my personal Lord and saviour. Jesus I promise to serve you all my days”
If you sincerely pray the above prayer, I want you to search for any Bible believing church of your choice and begin to fellowship there. Read your bible and pray everyday. I would love to hear from you soon. Begin to lift people up and never be judgmental again.
