The Bible tells us that those with a right standing with God are not afraid of anything but as bold as a lion. The book of Proverbs says:
The wicked flee when no one pursues, But the righteous are bold as a lion.
The above scripture tells us that wicked people have a guilty conscience that allows them to operate in fear while the righteous (Believers in Christ Jesus) have a clear conscience that enables them to operate in boldness. For example, when a robber sees a policeman on a typical day, his guilty conscience will tell him that the policeman is after him even though the policeman doesn’t know he is a robber. However, a man who has not done anything wrong has nothing to fear. He will see the policeman, probably greet him and confidently move on with his day.
The story of Adam and Eve properly highlights the fear that results from unrighteousness and the consequences for us, as human beings. God put them in the garden of Eden and told them to eat all they wanted except the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God would usually visit them in the garden of Eden to fellowship with them. However, they disobeyed God and eat the forbidden fruit and became unrighteous. See the outcome of their unrighteousness:
Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.
In the above scripture, Adam was afraid when he heard the voice of God because he realized he was naked and so he hid himself. After his unrighteousness, his guilty conscience made him restless and afraid. He was no longer confident around God which he used to be before. Adam was in a confused state. What a pitiable situation. That is the result of sin and unrighteousness. It makes you lose your standing with God and consequently your confidence.
If you need repentance, or you have never given your life to Jesus, now is the time to become reconciled with God. Only this way will you ever become righteous and bold as a lion. If you are willing to accept Jesus, pray this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I know that I’m a sinner and I come to you today. I repent of my sins and confess them to you (mention them). Jesus, I accept you today as my personal Lord and Saviour. I promise to serve you all my days.”
If you prayed the above prayer sincerely, search for a Bible-believing church of your choice and begin to fellowship there. Read your Bible and pray every day. You can reach me through apostlepaul@pkgm.org. May the Lord cause you to always be bold as a lion in Jesus' name. Remain blessed.
