The Judgement of the Wicked

Apostle Paul Kolawole

Our God is a God of righteousness, and He delights in seeing the wicked turn away from their evil ways and do His will. The “wicked” as used here and in the Bible passages refers to those who refuse to put their trust in the Almighty God. They also live as though God does not exist, and this outlook makes them particularly foolish and prone to error.

It is easy to reason that contemporary society “is doing its best.” Yet, we find that different sorts of atrocities like abortion, materialism, transgenderism, homosexuality, ungratefulness, manipulation, dishonesty, crime, and many others are often promoted and normalized. As long as we passively exist in such a culture, staying unaware of the evil in many of these practices, we are bound to justify and engage in them and consequently become part of the wicked ones who deserve the judgement of God.

Be sure of this. The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.

Proverbs 11:21 (NIV)

This scripture tells us that the wicked will be punished, but the righteous will be set free. The first step to becoming righteous is to repent and come into the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Charity, good behavior, or kindness does not make anyone righteous. This is because we are inherently flawed, and our individual righteousness is limited. When we accept Jesus, we receive His righteousness, and our righteousness is no longer from our works, deeds, or even missteps but rather from the everlasting grace He provides us.

The wicked shall be turned into hell, And all the nations that forget God.

Psalm 9:17 (NKJV)

This scripture showcases the final destination and judgement of the wicked nations that do not acknowledge God as God. An example of this is the story of the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, which were both destroyed by fire and brimstone from heaven because of the extremely evil atrocities they practiced.

The Time of Repentance is Now

“Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.”

Is. 55:7 (NIV)

This scripture urges the wicked (sinners) to depart from their evil ways and unrighteous thoughts because His mercy abounds towards them, to give them a life full of hope, victory, peace, and joy everlasting. Dear friend, I hate to break this to you, but your kindness, empathy, giving, and other good works cannot make you righteous, and they will not take you to the kingdom of Heaven. You are not righteous until you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour. It is then, your sins are forgiven, and your imperfections are covered, and you get the grace to live out a meaningfully pure and constantly renewing righteous life. Time is running out! Repent of your sin now in sincerity and accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour right away, if you have not yet done so. The grace of God continues to abound over you in Jesus’ name.
