Birds are living creatures created by God, and you’ll find them in every corner of the world. They don’t have complex agricultural systems like ours, but they never go hungry.
He provides for the birds
Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?
Jesus here is using birds of the air to drive home a point to those who were always worried. Birds do not plant or grow crops as we humans do. They don't reap nor gather into storehouses, yet the Lord never neglected them - they are always fed. They always have an abundance of food and water because God cares for them.
When the birds of the air wake up in the morning, they don’t worry about what they will eat or drink. They know too well that they will find something to eat and drink. Jesus wants us to learn from this because we are of greater value than birds are. And so we are not to worry or be anxious, because if God provides for birds which are less than us by all standards, He will not neglect us who are created in His image. In fact, He will always care for us by supplying our needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
