Staying Alone With God

The Bible lets us know that every believer in Christ needs to seek the face of God to know His plans for them. We believers in Christ Jesus cannot do things our own way. When we do things our own way we can never please God. But when we do things His own way, we will not just please Him but our lives will attract great results. To stay alone with God is to stay in a solitary place while praying to God and hearing from Him. Let me show you something important in the book of Habakkuk:

I will stand my watch And set myself on the rampart, And watch to see what He will say to me, And what I will answer when I am corrected

Hab. 2:1 (NKJV)

The above Scripture tells us how Prophet Habakkuk created time out of no time to stay alone with God to hear His instructions to him. He even waited on the Lord to know the right answers he would speak to Him. In the Bible days, many people like Jacob, Hannah, and Daniel stayed alone with God and they all experienced divine visitation.

Jesus Christ our Saviour stayed alone with God on several occasions (Matt. 14:23. Mark 1:35, LK 4:42, Lk. 5:16, John 6:15). Jesus started His ministry alone with God, praying in the wilderness for 40 days, and He ended His earthly ministry alone with God in prayer on the Cross. This popular scripture in the Book book of Hebrews encapsulates this point:

Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear

Heb. 5:7 (NKJV)

Are you so busy that you find it difficult to make time to stay alone with God? Are you so entangled in things that you find it hard to “stay” in His presence? Break yourself free from the bondage of busyness and noise. Create time to stay alone with God every day of your week. You need Him and He is the only one who can bear your burdens.

If you commit to doing this, I can assure you that you will receive an avalanche of positive instructions that will transform your life completely. Whenever you are in your “alone time” with God, make sure you switch off your phone and put away all forms of distraction so nothing steals your focus. Receive fresh grace to stay alone with God like never before in Jesus’ name.
