Sing Your Song!

We are in the days many people see no reason to sing songs of praises to God. This can be because they are in an unpleasant situation or something is not going their way. What they don’t realize in the moment is that as long as they are alive, God can do marvelous things that will bring a total turnaround in their lives. The book of Psalm 137 gives the account of the captive Isrealites in Babylon. Their Babylonian tormentors said to them, "Sing us one of the songs of zion!" The Israelites responded and said "How shall we sing the Lord's song in a strange land?" The people of Israel were unhappy because of the situation they were going through and chose to hang their harps and not sing by the rivers of Babylon.

One thing you should know is that the praises to God is loaded wtih God's power. When you sing praises and worship to God while going through a strange situation, God will show up with strange miracles that will overcome those situations. If you search the Bible, you will discover that people who sing the Lord's song in strange or inconvinient situations received strange manifestations of God's power to deliver them from their troubles. A good example of this is the story of how God delivered Paul and Silas as they praised God with songs which lead to a jailbreaking earthquake (Acts 16:16-40). This year, don't hang your harp. Sing songs of praise to God in the time of trouble and you will see outstanding results. See what the Bible says in Psalm 89:

Ps. 89:15-18 (NKJV)

“

Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound! They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance. In Your name they rejoice all day long, And in Your righteousness they are exalted. For You are the glory of their strength, And in Your favor our horn is exalted. For our shield belongs to the Lord, And our king to the Holy One of Israel.

Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise, who shout on parade in the bright presence of God.

These scriptures shows us that those who know the joyful sound (of praise) will walk in the light of God's countenance (face). I deliberately added an excerpt of the Message Bible translation of that scripture to emphasize the nature of this understanding. This translation uses the word “password of praise” to show the power of praise to "unlock" certain possibilities and dimensions of victory. From this two sciptures, a few things are clear. When you know God's joyful sound and your praise Him:

1. You will walk in the light of God's countenance.
2. You will rejoice in His name all day long.
3. You will be exalted in His righteousness.
4. He will be the glory of your strength.
5. Your horn (strength or power) will be exalted in His favour.
6. He will be your shield from all evil.

Are you going through struggles that seem too great to overcome? Is there a problem in your life that has lingered for so long? Continuously and consistently sing songs of praises to God this year and watch God intervene into your situation with His mighty hands. I see you walking in your HIGH PLACES as you give Him your HIGH PRAISES. Sing your songs of praises to Him!
