Preach the Word!

Apostle Paul Kolawole

Apostle Paul Kolawole

Founder PKGM

Paul, the Apostle, admonished his beloved son in ministry Timothy to always preach the undiluted word of God to the Christian church no matter what. See what what he says in Timothy 2:

Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

2 Tim. 4:2-5 (NKJV)

In the above scripture, Paul makes Timothy realize the need to preach the sound word of God both when it is convenient and inconvenient (in season and out of season). He tells Timothy to convince, rebuke, exhort, with all long suffering (patience) as he teaches them. He also made him understand that, the church will get to a point where Christians would no longer endure or prefer sound teaching or doctrine.

Today, many Christians prefer to listen to preachers whose sermon supports their lust, greed and other worldly lifestyle because they have made up their mind to follow their heart and not the true doctrine of the gospel. Paul also charges Timothy to endure afflictions (challenges) and ensure he is doing the work of an evangelist consistently by winning souls for God because that is the purpose of the gospel and the fulfillment of his God-mandated ministry.

The admonishment Paul gave to his son Timothy in the Bible days is still applicable to every minister of the gospel and believer in Christ Jesus today. We need to make sure that we are all preaching sound doctrine and not a wrong one just to make people feel good. God is still in search of preachers who will preach the gospel and sinners would become deeply convicted of their sins and repent by accepting Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Saviour. The reason why we are not seeing or experiencing revival today like the early church in the Bible days is because preachers who are preaching sound doctrine are very few.

If you are a preacher, or a believer in Christ Jesus, I want you to make up your mind to always preach the undiluted word of God to people. Make up your mind never to preach to please people but God. May you always stand for the truth in Jesus’ name.
