Today, many people don’t see any reason to seek their country’s peace and prosperity by continuously praying for it. Jeremiah 29 says:
Also, do good things for the city I sent you to. Pray to the Lord for the city you are living in, because if there is peace in that city, you will have peace also.
In this scripture, prophet Jeremiah is telling the people of Israel, who were carried away in captivity to Babylon, to seek the peace and prosperity of Babylon and pray for it because its peace is their peace. One thing I want you to know is that the country or city you live in right now is by the divine orchestration of God. Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God knew what country and continent He was going to plant you and He did so. It was no mistake. You are not just American, Chinese, or Nigerian by your own making. God has planted you in that country intentionally and there is a purpose that country will serve in your life. I’m from Nigeria, and I live in Ibadan. It is my responsibility to pray for Nigeria and my city, Ibadan, every day. When there is peace in Nigeria and in Ibadan, there is peace for me. When Nigeria is prosperous, I am prosperous too.
The same applies to you. I want to encourage you to take on the same responsibility and begin to pray for your country and city. Whether you are in North or South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, or Africa, raise prayer altars and say a word of prayer over your country and city every day. When your country prospers, you prosper and when there is peace in your city, you have peace.
Have you given your life to Jesus? Only Christ can give you perfect peace and only through Him can your prayers over your country be answered. If you are willing to accept Him, say this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and come to you today. I repent of my sins and confess them to you (mention them). Jesus, I accept you today as my personal Lord and Saviour. I promise to serve you all my days.”
If you prayed this prayer sincerely, search for a Bible-believing church of your choice and begin to fellowship there. Read your Bible and pray every day. You can reach me through apostlepaul@pkgm.org. I proclaim peace in your country and city in Jesus’ name!
