Every believer in Christ Jesus has the power of God in them and that power is greater than the power of darkness. However, many believers do not exercise that power through their authority as believers.
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
The snake and scorpion in this passage are metaphors for satanic authorities and powers. Here, Jesus is telling His disciples that he has given them authority (power) to trample upon serpents (snakes), scorpions, and over all powers of the enemy, Satan. Authority is the right to exercise power and control over someone or something. This authority Jesus gave his disciples is not the power to exercise over human beings but instead, it is the power to exercise against satanic spirits (demons) and all their activities.
As a believer in Christ Jesus, you have the authority to command demons to stop evil activities in your life, those around you, your community, and your nation. What are you going to do with this authority? Are you going to sit and observe evil actions happening around you or are you going to stand and use your authority as a believer to destroy those works or darkness? To be continued…
