Helper of the Helpless

In my faith journey as a believer in Christ Jesus, I have seen several people in a completely helpless situation and Jesus intervened in it. He turned their situation around for good in an instant. When Jesus was in the world, He went about helping the helpless. When you are helpless, you do not have the strength or power to do anything useful. The book of John 5 gives the account of an invalid man at the pool of Bethesda. An invalid is someone who is very sick and needs frequent care. Alongside him was a great multitude of other invalid people waiting for their healing. They congregated at that pool because an angel would come into the pool and stir up the water at a certain time. After the stirring of the water, whosoever stepped in first was made well of whatever sickness or disease they had, but as for this invalid man, he had no one to help into the pool and had been in his invalid state for 38 years.

One day, Jesus passed by and saw him in that condition. Although the man did not know it was Jesus, Jesus spiritually knew the man’s complete situation. Jesus moved close to him and said. "Do you want to be made well?" The sick man replied Him, "Sir I have no man to put me 'into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me." Jesus said to him “Rise, take up your bed and walk”

Immediately, the power of God surged through his body, and he was completely healed. Glory to God! Today, many people are like this invalid man. Whenever they need anything from God or are sick, they think that they don't have anyone who can help. They don't even know that Jesus is right beside them, and He's willing to heal or meet them at the point of their needs. Let's see the book of Psalms.

Ps. 72:12 (NKJV)

For He will deliver the needy when he cries, The poor also, and him who has no helper.

The above scripture shows us that God (Jesus) will surely deliver the needy and helpless when they cry to him. The Bible says that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Heb. 13:8). The Jesus of the Bible has not changed. He's still doing wonders. Are you helpless? Are you at your lowest ebb? Are you down and out? Are you in dire need of help? I want you to call on Him. He will step into your situation, and your life will be completely transformed. Sing this hymn titled Abide with Me.

Abide with me: fast falls the eventide; the darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide. When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, O abide with me.
