The main reason Jesus came into this world was to save sinners and he was crucified on the cross to save them from eternal damnation (Matt. 1:21). Saul of Tarsus, who later became Paul, was a great persecutor of Christians of the early church. Supernaturally, he encountered Jesus and converted to Christianity while on his way to Damascus to arrest and extradite Christians to Jerusalem (Acts. 9:1-9). Paul knew that he was saved through the mercy and grace of God and so he said:
"And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. However, for this reason I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show all longsuffering, as a pattern to those who are going to believe on Him for everlasting life.
In the above scripture, Apostle Paul highlights how he obtained mercy from God despite his shortcomings and was saved through the exceedingly abundant grace with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. He explains that Jesus came into the world to save sinners and Jesus used him as an example to show people how a bad individual can be saved by believing in Jesus and receiving everlasting life.
Who are sinners? See what Paul says in the Book of Romans:
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
We are all sinners. Every single one of us. However, some of us have received salvation while many of us have not. I used to be a sinner but through the saving knowledge of Jesus, I have received everlasting life and I no longer live the way I used to. You can receive Jesus too!
Friend, I want you to know that God can save anyone irrespective of their current status or the size of their sin. Are you wallowing in sin? Do you steal? Do you kill? Do you rape? Are you addicted to drugs? Are you a cultist? Are you into fraud? Are you addicted to pornography or involved in any form of sexual perversion? I want you to know that I love you and much more importantly, Jesus loves you. That is why He died on the cross for you so you can no longer bear the weight of sin. I want you to repent of your sins now and if you do, He will save you. It does not matter how long you have been practising your evil habits. Jesus can save you from all of it today. See what the book of Isaiah says:
Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool.
Are you ready to repent and accept Jesus now? If so, say this prayer:
“Lord Jesus, I know I’m a sinner and come to you today. I repent of my sins and confess them to you (mention them). Jesus, I accept you today as my personal Lord and Saviour. I promise to serve you all my days.”
If you prayed this prayer sincerely, search for a Bible-believing church of your choice and begin to fellowship there. Read your Bible and pray every day. You can reach me through apostlepaul@pkgm.org. You are continually blessed in Jesus’ name.
