Fathers Play Great Roles

Today is International Father's Day, celebrated annually across the globe on the third Sunday of June. It is a day dedicated to honoring and appreciating the paternal figures in our lives. Father's Day serves as a reminder of the important role fathers play in the lives of children and families. It is a day children, both young and old, can express their love, gratitude, and respect for their fathers and other father figures. In God's agenda, God wants the father to love his wife and raise his children in the fear (referential fear) and admonition of the Lord. Today, there is a great moral decadence in global human society because of parents' failures, especially fathers, to instill moral values into their children. Let’s take a look at the Book of Genesis:

Gen. 18:19 (NKJV)

“

For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice, that the Lord may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him

In this scripture, the Lord not only expressed His confidence in Abraham's ability to raise his children in God's ways, but also highlighted the profound influence a father can have on his family's spiritual journey. I firmly believe that if every father in the world were to emulate Abraham, the father of faith, we would see a significant shift in the moral fabric of our society. Fathers have the power to stabilize and secure their families and to guide their children in a way that pleases God.

The Roles of a Father in the Home

1. Bringing children up in the training and admonition of the Lord.
2. Being the breadwinner for the household
3. Being a role model
4. Providing his family security
5. Loving his family
6. Encouraging his family members
7. Listening to his family’s concerns and challenges
8. Spending Quality time with his family
9. Providing constant support to his wife
10. Providing emotional support to his family
11. Providing financial support to his family
12. Respecting the mother of his children (wife)
13. Correcting his children in love
14. Understanding his children and wife
15. Never provoking his children to wrath (Eph 6:4)

I pray that the Lord will give all fathers across the globe the grace to fulfil all their obligations to their wives and children in Jesus' name. To all fathers, I say Happy Father's Day!
