Have you ever wondered why your walk with God feels stagnant, even after years of being saved? The truth is, many believers stay in the same place spiritually—not because God wants it that way, but because they’ve never moved beyond spiritual infancy.
The day you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you were born again — a baby Christian. That was the beginning of your journey, not the destination. God’s desire is for you to grow in spiritual maturity, deepen your relationship with Him, and become someone He can use to fulfill His purposes here on earth.
Milk vs. Solid Food in the Christian Life
The Bible speaks directly to this issue in Hebrews 5:12–14:
For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.
But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil..
The writer was confronting believers who had failed to grow. Even though they had been saved long enough to be teachers, they were still stuck on spiritual milk. They were unskilled in the Word, lacking the experience that comes from consistently applying God’s truth.
What Does Spiritual Growth Look Like?
Spiritual maturity isn’t about how long you’ve been a Christian—it’s about how much you’ve grown in Christ. Have you:
- Developed discernment through Scripture?
- Moved beyond surface-level knowledge of God?
- Practiced obedience even when it's difficult?
- Let go of the works of the flesh?
If not, you’re still a baby Christian, no matter how many years you've been in the faith.
Why Growth Matters Now More Than Ever
We’re in a time where the world needs spiritually strong believers—people who are grounded in truth, bold in faith, and ready for battle. God wants to use you to do great exploits for His Kingdom. But He won’t place heavy assignments on shoulders that haven’t grown strong in Him.
Next Steps Toward Maturity
- Spend time in the Bible daily, not just occasionally.
- Begin applying the Word in small, faithful ways.
- Get involved within your church community and exercise your faith there.
- Ask God for a hunger for righteousness and the courage to obey Him fully.
This is a call to grow up in faith. To seek solid food. To move past just knowing about God and begin truly walking with Him. Time is short. The harvest is plentiful. Let's grow into the kind of Christians God can use—giant killers and city takers, built on the solid foundation of His Word.
Are You Born Again?
If you have not given your life to Jesus, you can seize this opportunity and give your life to Him. All you need do is be sincere and confess Him as your Lord and Saviour. Then, he will turn your life aorund for good and make you a new person.
Awesome! That's great!
Say This Prayer With Sincerity:
Lord Jesus I come to you today and know that I'm a sinner.
I repent of my sins and I confess my sins to you today (mention them).
Jesus, I accept you as my personal Lord and savior.
I promise to serve you all my days.
Beloved, Welcome to the Body of Christ!
Congrats! Now, you are part of God's family and you have the holy spirit living in you. What you need to do now is to search for a bible-believing church around you and begin to fellowship there. Also, you need to get a Bible, and read it as well as pray everyday. You are mightly loved!
