In the old testament, the word sacrifice meant a ritual offering which involved killing an animal for the atonement for people’s sin. Today, you don’t have to offer a sacrifice of blood to God for the atonement of your sins. Jesus had paid the price for the atonement of your sins when He shed His precious blood on the cross of Calvary. When you commit sin, whether intentionally or mistakenly, all you need to do is to come to God in humility and sincerity and ask Him to forgive your sin. Surely, He will forgive you because He is a merciful God. In this last and evil days, in this sin driven world, every believer in Christ must offer their bodies as a living sacrifice to God everyday to stay in righteousness.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.
This scripture enjoins all believers worldwide to always offer their bodies as a living sacrifice by being holy and acceptable to God at all times. God will not accept a blemished sacrifice because He’s holy. As Jesus’ Christ was holy, we must also be holy. Furthermore, believers are not to be conformed or in agreement with the world. Rather, we should be transformed through the renewing of our minds so we know what is right and wrong before God. In doing this, they will also know what the perfect will of God is. As you present your body as a living sacrifice to God, be sure that He will stay with you and you will surely inherit the kingdom of heaven.
